Lokai walked into the training room at 4am the next morning. "Ah, the smell of a sweet day." Lokai said as he strolled onto the obstacle course. He began moving hurdles and other objects around creating bunkers and defensible positions. "I love giving the trainees a day of joy and fun." He said quietly to himself checking the time. 4:45. The trainees would be arriving in less than half an hour. Everyone would be ready for the day in less than an hour. "I always liked paintball anyway." Lokai snickered to himself as he pressed a button and the surface of the floor parted to make way for a large machine which looked similar to a tower of gatling guns. The machine rose from underneath the surface of the ground and set itself upon the same ground once it had closed back up. Lokai had always loved getting to learn about the new tricks this old place could pull off. He smiled. Today would be a fun day indeed.

Natalie rolled out of bed at exactly 4:55. She rubbed her eyes sleepily with one hand and pulled on her shoes with the other. She still felt waterlogged from the day before, but at least she was alive. She stood up, stretched, and started moving around the room, wacking bunks with the palm of her hand, "If you want a shower, go now or don't whine about it for the rest of the day, because I can guarantee you won't get a chance for one. The two most important things at basic training are, sleep when you can and shower when you can. Another important thing is to wash your shirt out as often as you can." she said in a loud voice as she moved away from the bunks, "If you're not out of your beds in three minutes, you are going to be late. So, I suggest you start moving."

Tali groaned and resisted the urge to cover her head with her pillow and go back to sleep. She'd fallen asleep the moment her head hit the pillow the night before, but had woke up every hour or so either freezing cold or with her heart pounding from another nightmare.
She'd been having nightmares almost every night since her father died, but last night had been worse. Every time, she was underwater, drowning, and no one would save her. A few times, there were sharks or jellyfish in the water with her. The last time, there'd been the entire group of trainees, all drowning, and what frightened Tali the most had been her inability to save them.
She climbed out of bed with another groan. "What time is it, two am?"

"Almost five," Enoch said. He was sitting on the end of his bunk, completely dressed, his almost-nonexistent hair decorated with shining water droplets. He'd a;ready taken his shower and was now watching the others, amused. Had the never gotten up early in their entire lives?
After yesterday, Enoch had given up on making his dislike for the others plain. It took too much energy, and in the end Lokai would just end up kicking him out if he didn't cooperate. So, he'd decided to pretend to be okay with the others, and keep his true feelings to himself.
We are one maggot, Enoch thought, and rolled his eyes.
||Sorry for kind RPing with myself, but I wanted to post with both of them before they went out on the obstacle course. . .||

Jake moaned loudly as his bunk shook from the whack Natalie had given it, "I'm hungry." he said, sitting up and running his fingers through his hair, "A shower sounds nice." he said, tumbling out of his bunk, "Where are the towels?" he asked, looking around the room sleepily, "Wait. Don't tell me there are no towels and that I only have three minutes to take a shower." he said, suddenly waking up, "No, no, no, no!" he groaned, flopping back onto his bunk. "I have offically decided to hate basic training." he said, looking over at Enoch, "How did you wake up so early? Did you sneak in an alarm clock or something? Maybe you could wake me up tomorrow when you get up for your shower." he suggested.

"Sure, I have an alarm clock. It's in my head." Enoch tapped his head and smirked. "Alright," he offered in reply to Jake's suggestion. But if you scream at me, I won't do it ever again, he thought. He stood up and walked toward the door, but stopped. "Better skip the showers," he said in a calm, almost indifferent tone of voice. "Mr. Dangerfield will be angry if we're late."
He sighed inwardly, wishing he could just leave the others and go on alone. But they were supposed to be one maggot, and if he or anyone else showed up alone, they'd likely all end up paying for it.

Kyle inhaled deeply, sounding almost like snoring, when voices and movement in the room woke him up. A slight jiggling of his bed made him concious enough to realize that the blur he was staring at was actually his sneakers and that his upper-body was hanging over the side of his bed. "Morn' ev'r'one." he mumbled, pushing himself back up onto his bed. Sitting upright, he rubbed his eyes and yawned before he stood up to get ready for training.
((Sorry it's not very good >_< My comp is giving me a headache.))

Tali finished her shower and quickly pulled on her clothes. She quickly ran a comb through her short hair and walked back to where the others were. It looked to her as though only she, Natalie, and Enoch were ready.
Normally, she wouldn't say anything, but she in no way wanted a repeat of yesterday morning. She sighed and tapped her foot impatiently. "Come on guys. Hurry!"
||Short, but no one else was posting. I vote we all go to the obstacle course now. . . as a team. So whoever posts next can post that I guess?||

Natalie ran her fingers through her hair a few times before tying her blonde locks back into a ponytail, "Okay, we'd better head out then." she said, looking around the room at the others, "Are you ready guys? Hopefully today will be better than yesterday." she shook her head, "No matter how much we hate each other, we gotta work together." she said, pushing the door open and started walking towards the obstacle course, "Looks like paintballing today." she raised her eyebrows at Jake who was looking eager, "Don't get your hopes up, Jake, this isn't going to be any ordinary paint ball."

As Tali walked outside with the others, she couldn't help but groan. Lokai stood in the middle of the obstacle course and she immediately noticed the giant gun arrangement in the middle of the course.
"This is so not going to be fun," she muttered, looking over at Jake to see if he agreed. He'd seem pretty enthusiastic before Natalie had scolded him. Now, she couldn't really tell what he was thinking.
"Ready. . . partner?" She asked, and swallowed.

Jake shrugged her shoulders at Natalie, "Don't take the fun out of everything, Nat." he said, wrapping his arm around her shoulders, but getting no response he removed his arm and fell into step with Tali, "I dunno, I think we should be positive about this, it might make basic training more brighter and easier to get through." he suggested, ignoring the silence that surrounded them.
"Uhm, I dunno if I'm ready, but I'm feeling positive." he said, poking Tali's arm, "So, show me your happy face, Tali."

Lokai smiled slyly at the suspecting trainees. Today would be fun day. He looked around, counting the faces he saw. One, two, three, four, five... everyone was here. He stood before the raggedly assembled group. "Before you is what I like to call an obstacle course. You will likely call it hell." Lokai began to pace. "Each of you are to go to the particular part of the walls with your name on it. You will see just below the sign with your name a flag. This is not a contest. You will not be judged based on who finishes first, in fact you are welcome to shout help to each other if that is your wish. You will not be judged on group cooperation either, so you don't have to. "When I say so, you are to climb to your flag and grab it, falling as few times as possible with as few injuries as possible. You will notice the surface of each wall is the face of a rock climbing facade. You will use whatever hand-holds and grips you can find to get to the top. "The large tower at the center will be firing paintballs at you as you climb. The springs are set tight enough to hurt, but not enough to cause any real damage. Let's just say the more injuries you sustain, the less you will like the 6 mile run we are going to take afterwards. "Since I am sure there are no questions. You may go to your places. There is an electronic timer on the wall. You will notice it reads. 1:15. When the timer reaches 0:00 the tower will begin firing. Good luck. You will all need it."
||Everyone should be able to finish without too much trouble, but it shouldn't be too easy either. Each part of the tower has been calibrated to fire quicker or slower depending on the skill level of the person. That is why each one was assigned a particular spot. Enjoy||

Tali smiled despite herself. Jake's positive attitude was contagious. Grinning, she shoved him playfully. "Happy now, mister optimism?"
She looked up when Lokai began to speak, and swallowed nervously as he began to explain the exercise. It didn't seem nearly as bad as the day before had been--Tali shuddered involuntarily at the memory--but appearances could be deceiving. In fact, oftentimes they were.
She surveyed the course, and the guns, wondering why they had assigned spots. She shot Jake a good luck smile, then made her way to her spot. Tali looked at the guns, suddenly grateful that accelerated healing was one of her skills. She was fairly certain that by the time the exercise was over, she'd definitely need it. The pain, however. . . she knew from experience that would last much longer than any scrapes or bruises she acquired.

Kyle followed behind the group as they headed toward the obstacle course, trying to wake himself up as much as possible before their training began. Whatever weariness that was still in him disappeared when his eyes laid hold of the tower of guns. Excitement and fear-as well as an insane ammount of adrenaline- coursed through his veins as Lokai explained what they were to do. When Lokai was done talking, Kyle's hand shot upward and waved in the air. He hoped to ask if they were allowed to use their abilities or if they had to do it the old-fashioned way.

Natalie followed the others to the wall, "This won't be hard as long as you concentrate." she lied, hoping that if they thought it was easy it would actually be easier. "If you need help, holler. And whoever is next to you will help in whatever way they can." she gave them all a pointed look, "Because that is what a team does. I don't care what Lokai says. If one person fails, we all fail." Not realizing she had just called their trainer by his first name in front of him.
"Okay, we can do this." she shouted, "We are one maggot." she winked at Enoch, "I just love giving prep talks." she said sarcastically, "Let's go!"
