||"Lokai" has been really busy so I'm going to power play his response. (Don't worry, I asked for the response/permission first.)||
Enoch's face remained impassive throughout Lokai's explanation, as well as Kyle's question. He raised one eyebrow at Lokai's answer, however. The man simply replied that they would work on their powers later and, for now, anyone who used their powers would be given punishment laps.
He shrugged inwardly--his powers wouldn't help him in this instance anyway. Enoch grinned to himself. This is going to be easy. When the timer went off, he began scaling the wall, dodging the worst of the paintballs rather easily. After a moment, though, the stream of paintballs seemed to increase. The fact they were slowing his pace--not to mention the fact that they did sting--only succeeded in making Enoch irritated. About halfway up, his foot slipped off of its hold while he was reaching up to grab a handhold with his right hand. He slipped and felt a sickening pop in his left arm as his full weight jerked down on it.
Enoch let out a short cry of pain, but refused to loosen his grip. Instead, he sunk his teeth into his lip until that pain distracted him--if only slightly--and scrambled for a foothold. After a moment, he found one with his right foot, then his left. He ignored the impulse to cradle his left arm to his chest and reached up with his right hand to secure the hold he'd been going for earlier. His progress after that was slow and painful, but he eventually made it to the top--though after a couple of the other trainees--and grabbed the flag. He looked down and his lip trembled as he thought of how far back down he had to go now. His arm was on fire, and he was almost positive he'd dislocated it.
When he reached the bottom again, Enoch's face was wiped clean of its usual cocky expression. In it's place was a grimace that he couldn't seem to remove. His left arm hung limply at his side, and every slight movement sent shooting pains up his arm and into his shoulder. He knew he'd overworked it by finishing the task, but what else could he do? If he'd let himself fall, he would have had to do even more. He didn't regret his choice to keep going, though he wished he'd paid better attention and not underestimated the assignment. He glanced around the group a few times, but mostly kept his eyes on Lokai. He hoped the man wouldn't notice the way his arm was hanging, but he knew Lokai wasn't blind. It would be hard for anyone not to notice.
||So, I'm thinking either Lokai could just pop the shoulder back in. . . which he should know how to do. . . or something. Idk.||

Lokai laughed inwardly as he saw some of the trainees overestimated and others underestimated the task. He saw Enoch's little slip and grimaced with the pain the kid must feel at this point. He despised the kid for being a traitor, but you had to applaud someone who would keep going like that. I guess the kid has earned a little break Lokai mused. Too much and he'll hate me for being soft though. Lokai quickly corrected himself. This was going to be all too much fun. Just yesterday he relished the thought of beating the kid senseless, now he felt some attachment to him... There will be water if the fates will it... Lokai remembered the saying from his childhood. Lokai glanced around, watching the progress of those who finished before and after Eoch.

||Remember, Lokai doesn't know for sure that Enoch's a spy. . .||
Tali was one of the trainees who overestimated the task. She was a good climber and had a fairly high tolerance for pain. However, judging by the tasks Lokai had given them so far, there had to be a catch somewhere. She started off slow and cautious, wincing at the paintballs hit, but not worrying about avoiding them. If she tried, she would probably just end up falling or hurting herself somehow. Besides, whether or not she willed them to, the bruises would disappear quickly. She was sure Lokai knew that she had accelerated healing, and that she couldn't exactly stop her body from healing faster than everyone else's. Surely he wouldn't punish her for that. Would he?
She shook her head inwardly and continued up the rock face. No use worrying about that now. She nearly slipped once when her sweaty hand lost grip on its hold, but managed to regain her hold and move on. She heard Enoch's pained yell, and turned her head momentarily to see him dangling by his left arm. She was bout to call out to him and see if he was alright, but before she had the chance, he was up again and moving up the wall.
Tali made it to the top, grabbed the flag, then climbed back down. About two feet from the bottom, she pushed off the wall and let herself fall to the ground. She landed in a crouch and ducked out of the way of the painballs. Now what? She wondered.

Lokai smiled at the boy who was trying to hold his arm and noticed the confused glances as the other trainees were finishing their exercises. He was curious to see what they would do. He was really curious to see what the injured ones would do, especially Enoch who had taken quite a beating. Lokai laughed to himself. Let's see how this plays out. One of the things Lokai really enjoyed about being an instructor was seeing how each of his students responded to a situation.

Jake groaned loudly as paintballs hit him over and over again, "At least when I go paintballing with my friends we have protective gear." he complained, trying to ignore the pain and keep climbing. The climbing itself wasn't as hard as he had thought it would be. As long as he concentrated and didn't lose his grip he would be up to the top in no time.
Hearing Enoch give a shout he turned to look at the boy, keeping a firm hold on the wall, "Yo, are you--" he started to call out, but stopped when he saw Enoch continue climbing the wall, "That's gotta hurt." he thought, shaking his head, trying to get a blob of paint out of his hair.
Soon after he reached the top and grabbed a flag. Getting up here had not been a problem, getting down was going to be hard, because he was deathly afraid of heights. "Uh, help?" he mumbled, looking around for the others.

Natalie was also one to overestimate tasks, "Better be safe than dead." she thought to herself as she grabbed onto the wall and lifited her foot, feeling around for a foothold. After climbing a few feet she glanced up, "Watch it" she shouted, ducking to the right, "Be careful, Enoch." she snapped, rolling her eyes, not realizing the seriousness of Enoch's slip, "I thought you could do better than that."
She sighed loudly and continued climbing, the paintballs sting were nothing compared to other things she had experienced, but it didn't mean that they didn't hurt. She winced as one hit her between the shoulder bladed, "Expect bruises." she muttered, reaching for the last handhold and grabbed the flag before quickly descending, avoiding as many paintballs as she could.
Upon reaching the bottom she looked up to see Jake frozen, clinging to the wall as he was bombarded by paintballs. They were being shot out at him at a much slower pace than they had been shot at her. "Figures." she muttered, looking around for Tali, who had been next to him during the climb.
OoC; Sorry for the powerplays.

The absolute last thing Tali wanted to do was climb back up the wall, only to be pelted with even more paintballs. True, they weren't hitting Jake nearly as fast, but they would still hurt. She groaned inwardly, than began to scale the wall again.
When she made it to the top, she realized that she didn't exactly have a plan for how to help Jake. She'd made it up, but. . . now what? She tried encouraging him first. "Come on Jake," she said gently. "You can do it. You got up here just fine, and you can make it back down exactly the same way. Just don't look down, and take it really slow, okay? Give me your flag so your hand is free." She reached out with her hand for the flag and clung tightly to the wall with her other limbs. "You'll be okay, Jake. I'll be right beside you the entire time."

Lokai glanced at Natalie who was merely looking at Jake. What a team player he grumbled to himself. He couldn't help but laugh as one of the weaker students was the one to go retrieve the scared boy. How does she intend to get him down? Lokai wondered, still holding off on entering the arena. He allowed his adrenaline at the intense situation to course through him. If there was a slip up he'd have to teleport over to where Jake was and grab at least one of them, if not both, and bring them to safety. Patient... better to not display powers if not necessary. "Tali!" Lokai called above the roar of the paintball machine. "If you can use your powers to help him down, I'll grant you only the use of powers." Lokai continued looking up. Go on girl, show us what you're made of.

"Yeah," Tali muttered under her breath, "because my powers are going to help us a whole flippin' lot." She sighed, and turned back to Jake. "Come on, you made it all the way up. Down is the easy part." It wasn't, not really, but at this point her fingers were aching from clinging to the wall and she just wanted him to get down.
I wish that stupid paintball machine would quit firing already, she thought, wincing as another paintball hit her in the middle of her back. Suddenly, an idea occurred to her. Why not use her powers to shut off the machine. Of course, she had only ever dealt with machines while touching them, or standing mere inches away. How would she manage from so far away?
She winced again as another ball struck, this time on her left hand. I'll manage, she told herself, suddenly determined. "I'm going to shut off the stupid paintball machine," she told Jake with a grin. Then, closing her eyes, she focused on the machine. It was confusing at first, being far away, besides the fact that the paintball machine was huge and took more concentration than she expected. She felt a sweat break out on her forehead as she concentrated. It's too hard. . . she thought before losing consciousness, and she began to fall.
||Probably a tad over-dramatic, but I was bored. *shrug*||

Natalie reacted quickly, knowing that no matter how amazing your healing powers were a 10 foot fall was not good for anyone. She used her aerokinetic skills to conjur a heavy gust of wind, keeping Tali up in the air for a few more seconds, though it wasn't much of a help, anything to stall for time was good. She then lept towards the falling girl and hurled her body onto the ground, thinking that it would be better than landing on the hard dirt.

Jake watched in dismay as his helper plummeted to the hard ground below them. This did nothing to help his selfconfidence. He let out a low wail, still clinging on to the wall, paintballs hitting his backside constantly.
"I can't do this." he moaned, feeling paint dribbling down the back of his neck, "I want to go home."
OoC; Hahaha, short.

Lokai cursed himself as he began running toward the falling girl. Darn fool! Should have known she wasn't trained enough to shut off the machine! He jumped and a cloud of smoke filled the space he had so recently occupied. a mist of darkness surrounded him. The darkness had been called the netherworld by many who studied the phenomenon, but only because they knew nothing about it and had nothing better to call it. The first time Lokai visited this place, he kept going back just to experience it over and over again. The visit was quite brief, half a second at most. Many had tried to extend their stay, but to no avail.
This time, however, Lokai had no care about this place. His focus was on the girl who was falling out of the air. All his concentration was on her. He reappeared into normal space with such force he and Tali, who he grabbed upon re-entry, were now flying upwards. "Hold on, kid." was all Lokai said before the duo disappeared from normal view again, only to land again on top of the climbing wall. Lokai placed himself between the girl and the machine in order to keep her fairly limp body from being hit. "She'll be waking up soon." Lokai informed Jake. "We need to get down. This girl risked her life for you. Now you've got two choices. You can drop your pants and pee on her fainted face - because that's what you will be doing if you still refuse to climb down - then you can get out of my class, or you can honor her act and get your butt on the ground with your fellow trainees. I suggest you decide quick because i'd hate to be you if you pee on her face while she's awake to watch you." Lokai's tone was severe, but true. "You can do it. I wouldn't ask it if you couldn't, but it's your choice." ||if that's too much let me know and I'll make it more appropriate||

||Haha, no it was funny. But you should change that first part. . . to dang or something. XD||
Tali was aware of everything going on around her, but she couldn't move or speak. She felt herself moving, heard Lokai telling her to hold on, but none of it made any sense. Shouldn't she be dead--or at least have a few shattered bones--by now? Then suddenly, the movement stopped. This is so weird, she thought, and heard Lokai speaking to Jake as though she was far away, or at the end of a long, echoing tunnel. Maybe I am dead, she thought, and smiled inwardly at the thought. If she was, then she could see her dad. . .
Suddenly, her head felt like it was going to explode. She groaned and suddenly was painfully aware of everything going on around her. She was in Lokai's arms--when did that happen?--and--she blinked her eyes open and groaned again at the brightness of the day outside--she was on top of the climbing wall?
"I'm going to hurl," Tali whispered to no one in particular, then did, though she managed to lean away from Lokai and hopefully avoided splashing him. When she was finished, Tali ended up slumped back against him, though her head was screaming at her that he would probably just make them all run punishment laps for her failure, and that she should get out of his arms now.
She tried to push away from him so she could stand, but his strong arms held her protectively. "I'm fine," she told him around the throbbing in her head. "You can put me--" then she spewed again, barely managing to lean far enough to avoid covering both herself and Lokai in the gunk.
"I'm sorry," she muttered as she wiped her mouth on her sleeve. "I thought I could turn it off, but it was so far. . . and so big. . ." Her eyes drooped closed unexpectedly. "I'm really, sorry, sir. I tried. I won't fail again, I swear." She forced her heavy eyes open and ignored the fact that she was both rambling and pleading now. The thought that he might do more than make them run--that he might actually kick her out--hit her with full force, and her heart began hammering in her chest. "I'm sorry, please don't kick me out. I'll do better, I swear!"

OoC; My face claim is way too old...lol
BiC; Jake let out a shuddering sigh as he glanced down at the ground from his perch on top of the wall, "I, I can't" he sobbed, tears streaming down his face, "I'm scared, s-sir." he glanced up at Lokai, then at Tali, he wasn't about to pull his pants down though, that would be humiliation on top of humiliation.
He slowly swung his leg over the edge of the wall and slid his body off, anxiously searching for a foothold, never taking his eyes of off Lokai's face. He then slowly lowered himself down to the next foothold. After what seemed like years, his foot finally touched solid ground, "I did it...I did it!" he shouted, rubbing his eyes with both fists and sniffing loudly.

||I know. And so is Lokai's. He wouldn't listen to me when I said he shouldn't use a 50-some-odd year-old guy. XD||
Despite her fear of being kicked out of training, Tali was thrilled at Jake's accomplishment. "Way to go!" She shouted down at him, grinning. As she leaned forward, she suddenly realized how high up they were, and a wave of dizziness washed over her.
Gasping, she clutched tightly onto Lokai's arm. "C-can we go down now, sir? I'll climb down if you want, it's just a little. . . frightening just standing up here." She forced a tight smile, but it came out as a grimace. Silently, Tali prayed he would just say yes and save the lecture about fear for later.
||Short and lame, sorry. Lokai. . . POST!||
