Noam strolled into the cafeteria feeling especially awake for having got up at 0400 to swim before meeting the doctor. "Where.." Noam wondered quietly. He scanned the cafeteria, seeing a plethora of seats not filled by students now in basic training. "Rations..." Noam said a little louder with disgust. Not seeing Dr. Kerr, he grabbed an orange, an egg, and a made himself a small salad before pouring a cup of earl grey tea. He spotted a seat near the window. There was barely any light now, but Noam looked forward to enjoying the sunrise when it happened. Today was a good day, if it meant he would be assigned a junior agent, dare he hope for a mission as well.

Geoffrey Kerr spotted Noam walking into the cafeteria and watched as the boy overlooked him completely--or, perhaps, merely didn't notice him. No doubt, Noam was excited about the prospect of being assigned a Junior Agent. He'd been waiting for that for longer than he should have, and Geoffrey himself was excited to see the boy's wish finally come true.
He lifted his cup of coffee from the table and walked over to where Noam had sat. "Lately, all of my students seem to have been early for meetings," he said, by way of greeting. "It's both encouraging and unsettling." He smiled warmly ans sat across from Noam. "Good morning, Noam."

Noam's eyes grew wide as he saw Dr. Kerr sit down. He checked his watch noting that it was still 2 minutes before the hour. "You're early Dr. Kerr!" He said sounding a little more excited than he should have. He tossed his food around a minute waiting for Kerr to get situated in his seat. Once the man was settled, he began, "I am free and willing for whatever assignment you put me on, sir. Not to imply that I am assuming anything, but whatever might be the reason for our discussion I can do." Noam thought about his sentence and decided it was a run-on. Run-on sentences usually meant he should shut up and wait for an answer.

Dr. Kerr smiled. "I've been here since 0530, Noam. I'm sure if you were a little less excited, you'd have noticed me sitting over there at the corner table?" As he said this, he gestured with his right hand to where he had been sitting. He laughed a little as Noam began--and finished--his run-on sentence. "Calm down, son," he said gently. "This assignment won't run away from you while you're not looking." He gave the boy a moment to calm down, then began speaking again.
"If you are interested, there is a girl who just recently became a Junior Agent." He held up his hand before Noam could interrupt, then continued. "The reason I am asking both her and you to agree to this pairing is that she is your age. She was recruited very recently, and thus has only just made it through basic training. If you think you can handle being her handler without letting. . . hormones get in the way, then I see no problem with it.
"As for a mission," Dr. Kerr continued, "There is some chance you both will be going on one with a few other Agents in the near future. However, the details are still a bit shaky, so you will have to wait a while for more news on that."

Noam wasn't sure if he gasped when Dr. Kerr mentioned his new agent being a female. There was likely a slight shock on his face. He wasn't sure if it was from excitement or surprise. There were a few recorded cases of male and female agents being paired, but it wasn't usual. I wonder if she's pretty-- Noam's thought was interrupted by Dr. Kerr mentioning something about hormones. "Sir, I am a guardian. I am willing and exited to take any mission for any reason with any amount of risk. I hardly doubt her gender will make anything hard. It's not as though I have to take her to the bathroom or anything." Noam knew he was rambling when he mentioned the bathroom. "Even if it is a little unorthodox, I believe I can handle the assignment. I will be excited to hear about the mission. It has been several months since I have been deployed and quite frankly I am a bit antsy. Don't worry, though, sir, I will not let it affect my normal schooling routine." Noam realized he was smiling and couldn't exactly place his finger on why.

Rebecca walked into the cafeteria with half-open eyes. Her hair was still somewhat damp from showering and a few strands still stuck out at odd angles. She'd planned on staying in bed until at least 0800 but had failed to take into consideration that everyone else on her floor got up at 0530...and a whole dorm full of girls getting ready for the day is not an easy thing to sleep through.
Still in a drowsy daze, she shuffled over to the cafeteria counter, grabbed a cream cheese bagel and some yogurt, then was about to find a seat when she saw them. She was instantly awake.
Darting behind the nearest cover, which happened to be a group of young agents, she settled in a covert chair where she could get her thoughts together. First thought: Why the heck was she hiding? Dr. Kerr was probably just chatting with some random student -he did have a right to do that after all. So what if that guy he was talking to matched the basic description he'd given of her future "authority"...there must be a hundred such guys around campus.
She snuck another look at the table. Even if it was the same guy, she'd have to meet him sooner or later. She repeated that thought over and over again in her head, yet she couldn't supress the shyness that washed over her. Trying to smooth her hair down, she hoped they wouldn't see her.

She had been deep in thought, something that happened with her frequently. If there was nothing pressing going on, Eilwen commonly just receded into her own mind. She'd been hoping for another mission soon, but as it was had to content herself with the classes she was attending and fighting her way through homework assignments and staying in shape. Then again, she was a healer as her main ability and she wasn't commonly needed for missions, with so many other agents talented in combat. She frowned a bit. Her only other talent was flying so she was left feeling as a crummy messenger girl.
Her thoughts were interrupted as the chair beside her was pulled out and Eilwen glanced over at the girl who had just sat down beside her. She was... she groped her memory for the girl's name. Nothing turned up and she berated herself for her sieve of a memory. "Hey," she turned to her with a friendly smile. "I'm Eilwen. What's your name?"

Rebecca started a bit when the girl next to her spoke. Suddenly feeling a little sheepish for not having even acknowledging Eilwen as she sat down, she returned the smile. "I'm Rebecca...Becca...Becky, whatever you want to call me," she chuckled slightly. "Sorry if I seemed rude when I sat down. I was really distracted."
Grateful to have something different to occupy her thoughts, Becky momentarily studied Eilwen and guessed her to be about the same age or a bit older that herself. "So are you a senior agent here?" she asked before taking a bite of bagel. In the scuffle she had almost forgotten the breakfast that she'd come here to eat...and the fact that she hadn't eaten anything but canned rations and scavenged survival food for over 3 months. The bagel was light and creamy in her mouth, making her all the more agreeable to the company.

Dr. Kerr smiled knowingly, but refrained from commenting on Noam's excitement or the fact that he was rambling. He noticed a blur of motion out of the corner of his eye, and turned his gaze slightly to see Rebecca quickly sitting down. He felt the corners of his mouth turn up. Well, this was turning out to be a rather interesting morning.
"That's good to hear, Noam," he said, still smiling. "If you'd like to meet her, her name is Rebecca and she's sitting just over there. I could very easily call her over, or you could go introduce yourself." He said this for two reasons. One, he wanted to see Noam's reaction, and two, there was no time like the present. They would have to meet eventually, so why not now?

"Mhm," nodded the girl, who paused to stifle a yawn. Reaching over, she collected the mug of tea into her hands and drank some of the hot liquid gratefully. "Junior agent, I see?" she said in her thick accent as she nodded to the band on the girl's wrist. "Nice to see the trainers let some of the kids survive these days," she smiled wryly. Her gaze shot up to the clock and she bit back a groan. "Gotta go, I'm afraid," she said. "I've got work to see to before classes start. Nice meeting you, Rebecca." Picking up her tray, she went off to pick up after herself and then to see to the essay she had yet to finish and was due in... half an hour. Oh boy.

Noam was a bit startled when Dr. Kerr mentioned that the girl he was to be paired with was sitting near them. He sneaked a glance behind to see one girl leaving. Must be the other one he thought. wonder what shes like. He returned his gaze to Dr. Kerr, "Rebecca, you said?" He glanced again, "No time like the present, I guess. By your leave, Dr." Noam stood and approached the table where Rebecca sat, not far from him. "Good morning, Miss..." He realized he had forgotten to ask the lady's last name from Dr. Kerr. He quickly recovered, "Miss Rebecca. I'm sorry I am unfamiliar with your last name, but my name is Noam Levin. I was just assigned to be your handler. I am certain we will be able to have a bit of fun together and be a great team. I I can help with anything let me know." Noam paused to see if he forgot anything. "By the way, I have an assignment for you already. Dr. Kerr specified that I not let my hormones get in the way while you are the junior agent under me. That being the case, please remind me to tell you how beautiful you are once I am no longer your superior." Noam smiled and blushed, hoping the compliment would be taken well.

"Nice to meet you too!" Rebecca said as Eilwen left. Then, swallowing her last bit of yogurt, she was beginning to clean up her place when she noticed the young man who had been talking to Dr. K was now walking towards her.
Rebecca tried to act like she hadn't noticed his approach but inside her stomach was doing flip flops. What if he didn't think she was good enough? What if he was unhappy with the assignment? The questions were swirling through her mind.
When Noam spoke she stopped and really looked at him for the first time. He seems nice enough... she thought as she gave him a smile. "Swenson, my full name's Rebecca Swenson. I'm sure we'll be great friends."
No sooner had she said this than he made his comment about her appearance. Suddenly all her apprehension about him being an all-business fighting machine vanished. This was most definitely a teenage guy. Her eyebrows raised and she gave a small laugh that said she wasn't terribly impressed, but nor was she insulted. "I'll make a mental note," she said, gathering together what remained on the table then standing up.
"So," she said, heading towards the trash can and inviting him to follow with a nod of her head, "How're things run around here? I didn't spend any time here before I started basic training so I'm a little lost..."

"At this point it's mainly run like a college campus" Noam said catching up to the junior agent. "Lot's of classes and all that fun stuff. My physics class starts at 0800, in fact. Have you gotten a class assignment yet. There should be some sort of physical fitness program and a lot of us get together for skill and team training in the evenings, when the trainees are done being tortured for the day." He slid past the girl and started heading into the hallway, gesturing, with his eyes, for her to follow. "You are more than welcome to join us if you like. It's at 1900, the dark adds a fun element to the game. One or more of the Agents usually join us to make sure no one gets hurt in the expressive use of abilities." Noam eyes wandered a bit, wondering what else there was to do. "We have a nice rec room, complete with pool and a few other games. There is also a great spot out by where you completed your swimming part of the training course, if you like to read or just get away. No one goes out there usually." Noam paused again, this time halting his footsteps. "What else would you like to know?" ||So, my post kinda assumes you follow, but I can change it if you decide the trash can is better company. =)||

Jasmine strolled down the hall, pulling her thick black hair into a pony tail, seeing two agents ahead of her she stopped, feeling social she waved at them, "Hey, Noam. Great morning for punishment laps, eh?" she laughed, "I just had to run 10 of 'em." she looked at Rebecca, "Hey, I'm Jasmine. Are you new here or have I just not run into you yet?" she asked, "I'm the school nut. Though there seem to be alot of us around." she shrugged her shoulders, "So, have you guys had your breakfast yet? I'm starving, but I only have 10 minutes till my first class starts."
Suddenly realization dawned on Jasmine, "Dude! Dude, dude, dude!" she shouted, "You got a junior agent! He's your handler!" she squealed loudly, "This is so cool! Noam's been wanting a junior agent for so long!" she rolled her eyes, "Not me though, I could never watch out for anyone, 'specially younger people, unless I was on a mission and absolutely had to." she shrugged her shoulders, "But I guess some people are more bent towards it than others. I hope you two have a great...uh, relationship?" she raised an eyebrow, "Anyways, I'm gonna go grab a bowl of cereal. Noam, we have gym together today, yes?" she asked, peering into the cafeteria.

Rebecca fished a piece of paper out of her pocket. "I've got...Beginning German at 0800, followed by Phys Ed 101," she said. Her self-consciousness at having all beginning classes evaporated, however, at Noam's invitation to join in for evening training. "I'd like that...if you think I'd be able to keep up," she said a little shyly.
She was trying to think of any further questions when the girl, Jasmine, walked up. "I'm Rebecca," were the only words she could get in during Jasmine's quick paced conversation. Not that she minded, she was perfectly happy to let the others do the talking...and she only hoped that Jasmine's chattiness would prevent anyone from noticing the color that came to her cheeks at the mention of the word "relationship".
Grinning, Rebecca watched the other girl head into the cafeteria. "Is she always like that?" she asked with a quiet chuckle.
||Er, did Jasmine actually go into the cafeteria or not yet? I can edit if I guessed wrong.||
