Why all the meetings? Valkyrie wondered to herself as she walked around the training building. She hated meetings and preferred being active and using her skills to sitting around talking. Then again... a pained look crossed her face as she remembered her original training. Talking had never been her strong point and people had never well redeemed themselves in her eyes.
She wandered to the back of the facility, the walking easing up the cramps that had developed in her legs from standing still so long. Looking around, she decided to hazard a guess at where Dangerfield might be setting up shop and walked up to the first door she came to. If it wasn't him, she didn't care. Either way, she wouldn't find out standing still and staring at it, so she knocked.

Lokai opened the door to see Valkyrie. After inviting her in, he stood facing his familiar comrade... yes, comrade would be the word he chose. He had never had any particular liking for the beautiful Valkyrie, but she was good at what she did. That mattered in a tight spot... still... Lokai couldn't figure out how they were supposed to work together. "I'm sure Dr. Kerr has informed you as well that we will be looking together." Lokai began, "You as the head of the female dept and me as the head of the men. He thought that might be better than a single instructor for some reason. Whatever his reasoning, it seems we will be working together yet again, Mz. Emer. "Just so we don't get in each other's way. I suggest we split our authority." Lokai smiled. "You are undoubtedly the better marksman and I the better authority. The fact you don't talk much only makes you worse at it." Lokai laughed doubting she would find it funny. "That being the case I would like to handle the basics of basic training and you the more advanced techniques. I'll teach them to swim, run, sweat, and die. You can teach them to fight and shoot. We'll figure out the powers training by who has what and probably separate them into teams at that point in time. Maybe we can even run scrimmages." Lokai smiled at the thought of a good fight. "How's that sound? You don't undermine me and I won't undermine you."

Valkyrie had been somewhat surprised that her first try was correct but had set it aside as coincidence as she entered his office. As he spoke, she kept her face neutral as always, silently imagining what it would feel like to drive her stilleto blade through the pressure point at the base of his skull. She quickly banished the thought. No, Vally, she reminded herself. No more, you don't work like that anymore.
She said dryly, "My pardons for not being loose-lipped. However, I have no issue with splitting them this way and if you kill half of them off before they get to me, all the better." She paused. "Perhaps I oughtn't to have said that out loud. At any rate, your plan works well enough for me." Indeed it did, not having to teach the basics left her to focus on what she was best at and therefore not overloaded. "Is that all then?" she asked, her face revealing none of her hope to get out to the gym to work off her left over energy.

"I guess you can go." Lokai smiled ruefully. "If you really don't like me that much." Lokai knew enough not to test Valkyrie, but he couldn't help himself. There was just too much fun to be had. 'Serious people are asking to be made fun of' was a motto he had long lived by. He had survived in the world of gangs despite that motto. It was probably that very reason that he had never quit. "Since you will likely be wishing you had offered, you're welcome to buy me dinner any time. I'd even let you buy the drinks too. I'm not too picky in my taste for women." Lokai wondered if it was comments like that which had kept him single so long. It didn't much matter. He wasn't overly desirous for a relationship at this point anyway.

An eyebrow rose at this peculiar statement and she wondered if he was trying to be funny. "I'll keep that in mind," she said dryly. Since he'd left himself open, she decided to get in a little jab of her own, by saying, "I'll wait until you're desperate enough to make a move on your own. Until then, I'll suffer... silently." Her lip twitched. "I'll be waiting for you to come up with a better pick up line. For now, good night." She turned to leave, opening up the door and stepping out.
As she walked briskly towards the gym, she contemplated the turn that conversation had taken. If one could have called it a conversation, it had been more like a brief exchange of words. Still, it had to be the most she'd spoken to any one person at one time in a while. Shrugging it off, she decided to put it from her mind. It wasn't worth wasting time over.
